Sniper bot guide

A sniper bot: what is it, really?

A crypto sniper bot is a program that automatically buys a token in the very first blocks after an event: the coin's creation, its pool opening, or a buy by a wallet you follow. Its only goal is to get there before everyone else, at the best price.

How a sniper bot works

  1. It listensThe bot constantly receives what happens on-chain: new launches, buys by followed wallets.
  2. It decidesIt applies your filters: does this coin match what you're after (mcap, dev buy, name…)?
  3. It signs and sendsIf it fits, it builds the transaction, signs it and sends it to the network, all within a fraction of a millisecond for the fastest ones.
  4. It sellsA good sniper also handles the exit: take profits, stop loss, sell after a number of blocks.

What makes a sniper fast

  • Reaction time: from the spotted event to the signed transaction. On Scope: 0.32 ms median (see the Speed page).
  • Send routes: sending the same transaction through several paths (RPC, Jito, network leaders) raises the odds of landing in the target block.
  • Tip and priority: when several buyers target the same block, the highest bidder goes first. See tip and priority.
  • Server location: the closer to validators, the faster the message arrives.

The three main kinds of snipe

KindWhen it buysExample
Launch snipeAs soon as a coin is created and passes your filtersScope's pump.fun sniper
Migration snipeWhen a coin leaves its curve for a poolBuying on arrival on PumpSwap
Copy tradingWhen a followed wallet buysScope's copy trading

The risks

  • Buying worthless coins: being first on a coin that collapses is still a loss. Filters and exits matter more than speed.
  • Being someone's exit: on some coins, the first buyers are the dev's wallets dumping onto snipers.
  • Tip costs: overbidding on every coin quickly costs more than you make.
  • Fake bots: a « sniper » asking for your recovery phrase is a scam. See security.

How to choose a sniper bot

  • Response times that are measured and published, not just « the fastest ».
  • Filters that fit your strategy.
  • Complete automatic exits.
  • Key custody explained clearly.
  • Readable fees. Our comparisons: Trojan, Maestro, BonkBot.
