Exits guide

Decide your exit before you enter.

A take profit sells automatically when your gain hits a threshold; a stop loss sells when your loss hits a limit. With memecoins, where a price can double or collapse within a few blocks, these automatic sells often make the difference between a method and a bet.

The four automatic exits

ExitWhat it doesWhen to use it
Take profitAt +X%, sell Y% of the positionAlways: lock in part of the gains
Stop lossAt −X%, sell everythingAlways: cap the loss
Sell when the dev sellsSell as soon as the creator sellsOn very young coins
Sell after X blocksSell on the planned block, no matter whatVery short snipes and copies

Three setup examples

Starting points, to adapt to your style and results:

  • Short launch snipe: take profit 50% of the position at +50%, the rest at +150%; stop loss −30%; sell when the dev sells; sell after 150 blocks.
  • Copying a fast wallet: take profit 100% at +30%; stop loss −20%; sell after 50 blocks counted from the followed wallet's buy.
  • Copying a wallet that holds: take profits at +100% (50%) and +300% (the rest); stop loss −40%; no time exit.

What to know about memecoins

  • A stop loss isn't a guaranteed price: if the price drops 60% in one block, the sell happens after the drop. That's why sell-when-the-dev-sells and sell-after-X-blocks complement the stop loss.
  • Tiers beat all-or-nothing: selling part early pays back your stake, the rest can run.
  • Time is an exit: on a coin that stopped moving, staying ties up your capital.

How Scope applies your exits

Your exits are set in the group, before the buy. Scope tracks every position nonstop, on the pump.fun curve as well as PumpSwap, and sends the sell as soon as a rule triggers. Your positions are saved: after a restart, Scope reads the price on-chain again and picks up where it left off.

FAQ

What stop loss should I use on a memecoin?

There's no universal number. Many active traders sit between −20% and −40%; what matters most is setting it before you buy.

Can I have several take profits?

Yes. In Scope you set several tiers: at +X%, sell Y%.

How long is sell after X blocks?

A Solana block lasts about 300 ms: 100 blocks is roughly 30 seconds.
