Trade memecoins with a method.
Trading memecoins means buying very young, very volatile tokens to sell them higher, often within minutes. What separates those who last from those who blow up is rarely instinct: it's position sizing and exits decided before getting in.

Before you start
- A dedicated wallet, separate from your savings. Only put in what you accept to lose.
- SOL to buy and pay network fees.
- A tool: pump.fun by hand, a terminal (GMGN, Axiom…), or a bot like Scope to automate.
How to buy a memecoin
- Find the coinOn pump.fun, in a terminal, or through a wallet you follow. See finding new meme coins.
- Check the basicsDev buy, holder distribution, coin age, whether the name copies another coin.
- Decide your exitBefore buying: what gain you take, what loss you cut, how long you stay.
- Buy smallA fraction of your capital per coin. With memecoins, most positions lose; the winners have to pay for the rest.
Three ways to trade
| Approach | Principle | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| By hand | You pick each coin and click | People who spend their days on charts |
| Copy trading | You copy winning wallets | People who can spot good wallets (copy trading) |
| Sniping | You buy launches that pass your filters | People playing volume with small amounts (sniper) |
Rules that keep you from losing it all
- Always have an exit: a take profit, a stop loss, or a max duration. See stop loss and take profit.
- Lock in part of a gain early: selling half at +100% pays back your stake.
- Don't buy more to « average down » on a collapsing coin.
- Get out if the dev sells: on a brand-new coin, it's the clearest signal.
- Log your trades: without history, there's no way to know what works.
Automate your method
The hard part isn't knowing these rules, it's applying them on every trade, at any hour. That's a bot's job: with Scope, your groups buy by your filters and sell by your exits, and your per-position history shows what actually works.
FAQ
How much should I put into a memecoin?
A small fraction of what you set aside for memecoins, itself money you accept to lose. Many active traders stake under 1-2% of their memecoin capital per coin.
Can you make a living trading memecoins?
Very few people do. Treat it as a high-risk activity, not an income.
When is the best time to buy?
It depends on your strategy: the very start of the curve for sniping, around migration for others. What matters is having a rule, and sticking to it.
