The language of the trenches.
The words of Solana memecoin trading and pump.fun, explained in a sentence or two.
A to L
- Block (slot)
- Solana's unit of time: a new block roughly every 300 ms. « Copy on block +1 » = buy in the block after the copied wallet's.
- Bonding curve
- A pump.fun coin's pricing mechanism before migration: the price rises with each buy and falls with each sell. See how pump.fun works.
- Bundle
- Several transactions sent together to land in the same block, in order. Often used by devs to buy their coin from several wallets right at creation.
- CA (contract address)
- A token's unique address on Solana (the « mint »). It's what you copy to buy a specific coin.
- Copy trading
- Automatically buying when a wallet you follow buys. See copy trading.
- Dev
- A coin's creator, and their wallet.
- Dev buy
- What the dev buys of their own coin at creation. One of the first signals to check.
- Exit liquidity
- The buyers others sell onto. « Being exit liquidity » means buying just as the early ones get out.
- Jito
- A network most Solana validators run through, which lets you pay a tip to get a transaction included first. See tip and priority.
- Leader
- The validator in charge of producing the next blocks. Sending your transaction straight to it saves time.
M to Z
- Mcap (market cap)
- Token price × number of tokens. On pump.fun, a brand-new coin's mcap is counted in thousands of dollars.
- Memecoin
- A token with no use beyond its community and narrative. Very volatile.
- Migration
- A coin moving from its pump.fun curve to a pool on PumpSwap, once the curve is complete.
- Narrative
- The story or theme carrying a coin (news, a meme, a community).
- PnL
- Profit and loss: your gain or loss on a position or over a period.
- Priority fee
- An extra paid to the validator so your transaction lands earlier in the block.
- PumpSwap
- pump.fun's exchange, where coins migrate. See PumpSwap.
- Rug pull
- A coin's collapse caused by its creators or linked wallets dumping. See avoiding rug pulls.
- Rugger
- A wallet, or group of wallets, that launches or buys coins to dump them on the next buyers.
- Slippage
- The max price gap you accept between sending an order and its execution.
- Smart money
- Wallets known for winning, which others follow or copy. See finding wallets to copy.
- Sniper
- A bot that buys in the very first blocks after an event. See what is a sniper bot.
- Stop loss
- An automatic sell when the loss hits a limit. See stop loss and take profit.
- Take profit
- An automatic full or partial sell when the gain hits a threshold.
- Tip
- A payment to get your transaction through first, usually via Jito.
- Fresh wallet
- A brand-new wallet with no history. Ruggers create lots of them; Scope can copy a wallet only on its first real move.
